The idol is viewed inside a sitting posture having a pen [ezhuthani] as part of his right-hand along with a palm leaf on left. Devotees feel that worshiping here gives one an excellent life. He shows one the right path to adhere to. Following the worship one turns into a level in everyday life. The evil aftereffect of Kethu will be mitigated.
Built in early 11th century, the Chitragupta Temple situated on the extreme northern end of the row of four years old temples and extending from south to north is dedicated to Surya, the sun's rays God. Facing eastwards towards the rising sun, the temple is situated about 100 yards south-east of the Chopra Tank,an in-depth three-storeyed stepped well that's built from the Chandelas. The sole Khajuraho temple that is focused on Surya, the Chitragupta Temple demonstrates an evolution in comparison with the Lakshmana and Vishvanatha monuments. The temple's inner sanctum features a spectacular five feet picture of sunlight god ,who's shown driving a seven horsed chariot. The temple shows a good level of warning signs of restorative work and it is where almost all of the dance performances happen during the Khajuraho Dance.
